A disconnect between developer and content quality

Yahoo! make really nice developer tools, and then use them to build websites where the target audience is the type of people who ask Who created Tarzan (all names) in 1914? and then file it in the “Tattoos” subject area. Meanwhile really interesting sites (such as a wonderful hackday project that they invested a vast amount of labour into) get killed off before launch because they are too complicated “for normal people”.

This saddens me.
